"Matrona and Warrior"

Bozhidar Kozarev, (1947-2022)

Bozhidar Kozarev was born on November 23, 1947 in Sofia. In 1966 he graduated from the Art High School in Sofia, and in 1974 - from the Higher Institute of Fine Arts "Nikolai Pavlovich" (now the National Academy of Arts), majoring in "Decorative and Monumental Sculpture". He studied with Prof. Velichko Minekov, Prof. Dimitar Daskalov, Prof. Krum Damyanov.

Since 1981 he has been a lecturer at the National Academy of Arts in sculpture, majoring in "Carving". Since 1986 he has been an associate professor, and since 1996 - a professor of sculpture at the National Academy of Arts.

Using massive geometric shapes he builds the volumes of the figures "Matrona and Warrior", with the two sculptures going as one.
Kozarev shows the feminine and masculine nature and reminds us that the warrior cannot do without his matron, and she in turn cannot do without her warrior.
