Who is St. Methodii - assistant and companion of his younger brother Kiril, or true baptist of the Bulgarians , Slovaks , Czechs and Poles? What we do not know the history of the creation of the Slavic alphabet and the path that created its mythologized image? Why work of the holy brothers is such a significant that continues to inspire today artists from all Slavic peoples?
Answers to these and other questions gives the documentary "THE WAY OF LETTERS". The premiere of the movie is on Wednesday (November 4th) at 19:00 in Lumiere Cinema. Toda the film crew revealed some details at a meeting with the media in the Presscenter of National Palace of the culture (NDK)."WAY OF LETTERS" is one of the first Bulgarian movie projects co-produced. The film was conceived on the occasion of the 1200-th anniversary of the birth of the elder brother Methodii. Screenwriters of production are Desislava Dimitrova and Ralitsa Naydenova, who is also a director. Cameraman and producer is Plamen Gerasimov (B Plus Film). The movie has a prepremiere in Varna on November 1.In "The Way of the 'historical documents, monuments and images of the holy brothers in Slovakia, Greece, Macedonia, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Russia and Bulgaria turns into a travelogue through time and space with modern interpretations of their mission - sometimes controversial, alive in the words and works of people of different nationalities. The aim of the authors is to break the dogmatic understanding and asserted anew to tell a seemingly familiar old story that all Slavs in Europe interpret in their own way. Because of its story and message, the tape is among the approved projects, of which the co-producer became the National Palace of Culture (NDK)."This movie is a new look at the history of life of St. Methodii beyond the documents and mythology, "said Mihaela Petrova from Producing center - NDK."For me and for the team this film is an adventure. It is a provocation, a challenge to everyone to turn his point of view. I would like to thank for the support of the NDK , "said director Ralitsa Dimitrova.According to Desislava Naydenova, which is one of the screenwriters of the movie, "THE WAY OF LETTERS" looks to slightly marginalized person of St. Methodii. "And what is even more interesting - the film traces how the holy brothers and their work are alive in our daily lives today, and how the idea of the letters may be a mission," she said.The producer Plamen Gerasimov said that the team chose not to use the modern approach “history with reenactments of historical events”. "Our ambition was to make a spectacular production that is interesting to everyone, not just for the historians. You`ll see a lot of interesting posts and staff here", said he."WAY OF LETTERS" there will have 4 other screenings: at G-8 Cinema on 6 November at 19:3 and on 12 November at 18:30; at the House of Cinema - November 10 from 18:30 and on 13 November at 17:00.
