ALEXANDRINA PENDATCHANSKA OPENS THE NEW YEAR’S MUSIC FESTIVAL

An exquisite concert of the opera diva Alexandrina Pendatchanska will present NDK on December 2nd at 7 p.m. at Hall 1. The event will open the 29th edition of the New Year’s Music Festival.

The program includes the best of the repertoire of the opera star accompanied by the orchestra of State opera – Plovdiv with the Italian guest conductor Speranza Scapucci.

Tickets for this unforgettable event can be bought form NDK desks, with discount for students and retirees and special price from 10 to 30 levs till September 15th.

“It is for the first time that NDK releases tickets for the most impressive concerts of the New Year’s Music Festival”, explain the organizers. The program is already arranged and for the most passionate music fans there are pack prices for three of the concerts at Hall 1.

 

MORE ABOUT ALEXANDRINA PENDATCHANSKA:

Pendatchanska was born in Sofia into a family of renowned Bulgarian musicians. She studied piano from early childhood and graduated from Bulgaria's National School of Music, where her subjects were piano and singing. Her vocal teacher was her mother, Valerie Popova, an internationally acclaimed soprano who sung regularly at La Scala in Milan. Making her stage debut at age 17 in the role of Violetta in La traviata on Sofia stage she has a successful opera career on opera stages all around the world. Now she is in the USA for her emblem role of Salome in Santa Fe. Before the concert on December 2nd in NDK she will participate in “The coronation of poppea” in Theater an der Wien; in „La Monnaine“ at Brussels L’Opera Seria; and in „Mefistofele“ in Baden Baden.

 

MORE ABOUT SPERANZA SCAPUCCI:

Scapucci, a brilliant pianist, is one of the young but already well known conductors. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School and the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia in Rome. She has worked as repetiteur/assistant conductor in several prestigious international houses and next to great conductors such as Riccardo Muti and James Levine; at the Vienna Stat Opera, the Metropolitan Opera New York, Theatro dell’Opera di Roma, and many others. She made her conducting debut at the Yale Opera with Cosi Fan Tutte followed by a very successful production of I Capuletti e Montecchi.

 

MORE ABOUT THE NEW YEAR’S FESTIVAL:

The New Year’s Music Festival is founded in 1986, and is inspired by the Vienna Music Festival. The founder was the great Bulgarian conductor Emil Tchakarov (1948 - 1991), student and assistant of Herbert von Karajan. The festival is annual and is liked and visited event. The most expected is the New Year’s Concert on the first day of the year that from its beginning is broadcasted live by the Bulgarian National Television.

The New Year’s Music Festival aims to present the intenational trends in music, to attract the new names of the world concert stage; as well as to educate and attract more young people. In the years some of the most prominent Bulgarian and world performers took part in the program of the festival.
