Applied artist, professor. Graduated in Textiles with Prof. Marin Varbanov at the Nikolay Pavlovich Institute of Art (today the National Academy of Arts) in 1971. Member of the Applied Arts Section of the Union of Bulgarian Artists since 1979, and since 1985 – in the Monumental Arts Section.

The author is one of the biggest names in the field of artistic textiles in Bulgaria.

He learned from Marin Varbanov, mastering the riches of textiles. In the tapestry "Tree" he combines painting and sculpture techniques. He uses different treatments of the fabric, creating structures and volumes.

Professor Marin Varbanov says about the artist: "I recognize only Petko Petkov as my true student in Bulgaria."
